The MUS varsity cross-country team completed its season last Saturday, November 5, in Nashville as they finished second at the state meet, held at the Percy Warner Steeplechase Course.
The Owls were led by two seniors, Donald McClure and Hunter Adams, as the duo claimed third and fourth overall respectively, finishing behind winner Alex Harris of University School of Nashville.
MUS finished with 76 points, 23 points behind champion McCallie, which had five runners place in the top-15.
With high temperatures and gusty winds, the overall times were slower, but the Owls still competed hard to claim the runner-up spot, their highest state finish since 1996.
The state meet ended an outstanding 2005 campaign for MUS as the team lost to only three teams all season. The year saw the Owls win the Frank Horton, the county championships, and the region meet as they maintained their status as one of the premier running programs in the area.
