The MUS Lower School Blog was launched in fall 2005 by former faculty member, Bruce Ryan (MUS '80) to provide a new vehicle for communications between Memphis University School's Lower School administration and the families of its students. Addressing a need for a more intimate, interactive form of communication with the school's parents, the blog initiated a new level of open communications through frequent text, photo, and video updates, as well as interactive features such as polls and "Blogmail" (anonymous e-mail from parents to the school). Readership has grown steadily since its inception, reaching over 45,000 page views in only its second academic year. This experiment in school-parent communications has been well-received, but still strives to create an ever more engaging dialog between the MUS Lower School and its valued customers. Since Mr. Ryan left MUS in summer 2007, Mr. Smythe and Memphis University School have assumed responsibility for the continued operation and development of the blog.
