On February 9, the 2017 All-West Convention featured three Owls. Here is what they had to say about it:
It was a fun experience. After 3 years of playing my trombone and qualifying for the band in 2016, I was fairly exited for next year’s convention. I practiced my scales and music, and blind auditioned in order to qualify for the Blue Middle School Band, which was the highest band that middle schoolers can make. The convention was fast paced, and over the course of two days, we had nearly perfected our music over twelve hours of rehearsal. The band was a mixture of students from schools all over West Tennessee, and despite none of us knowing the guest conductor, the group functioned efficiently. I would recommend All-West to any musician who wants to test his skills and gain experience as a music student.

The audition process for All-West is a blind audition. Each person was assigned a time slot. Each musician played scales, an excerpt they were allowed to practice in advance, and an excerpt which they had thirty seconds to sight-read. Samuel Lim and I qualified for All-West Middle School Orchestra for violin. I placed 2nd violin, 5th chair.

Performing in the Cannon Center in the West Tennessee Orchestra was a great experience. Playing my violin and making new friends was awesome. I auditioned for the orchestra because I wanted to perform in a big crowd and see other great musicians play their instruments.
