The Owls fielded an "enhanced squad" last night on the emerald green of Hull-Dobbs Field as our team comprised mostly of seventh graders received support from select eighth graders. The boys accepted the challenge from the eighth grade Bellevue Wildcats, subduing their worthy Midtown opponents 14-0.
Above, the offense unfolds as the line provides ample protection for quarterback Hayes Wilkinson, pictured here rolling to his right while Clarkson Shoaf (far right) begins his corner route.

Wilkinson gets met with a sizable Wildcat in his face, but only after he successfully launched his corner route pass with precision. See the ball at top center, captured at the top corner of the far side bleacher railing.

Ball in flight, Shoaf works himself for position having beaten his man.

Paydirt!
Football is arguably the ultimate team sport, each boy required to execute his particular duty in order for the team to advance the play to the desired end. In this case, from the coaches' play call to the players' doing their jobs, the result is as intended, a successful pass play designed to score six.
On the ensuing play, the Owls went for two extra points and made it, Christopher Goodwin punching it in over the left side. Goodwin and his Owls would add the final six points as he carried it in for a touchdown later in the game, sealing the 14 points on the side of the Red and Blue.
