The subject of Middle school bullying seems to be cropping up in the news, and we think it is a subject well worth our attention here at school. Whether it be online bullying in nature or face-to-face, like name calling (below), we have no place for it here.
For what it's worth, we confront directly aggressive social situations that come to our attention, attempting to demonstrate both to the offender and to the offended how and why a bullying behavior is what it is. From self-respect to self-reflection to good citizenship, we aim to craft a positive social culture supported by our school's dedication to strong moral character consistent with the MUS Christian tradition.
For a powerful, creatively articulate perspective on the potentially deleterious effects that incessant teasing can have on someone, consider the To This Day Project, an animated short film and spoken word poem by Shane Koyczan.
