For you planners, remember that the last day of classes before exams is a half-day, Tuesday, December 13. ASAP will be offered that day and every exam day until Monday afternoon December 19, 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Until then, ASAP continues to run daily from 3:40 - 5:30 p.m. (2:40 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 7). Exam review sessions will be posted on the bulletin boards and outside of Mrs. Schuhmacher's office. Not all classes offer review sessions. With Lower School exams ending at 10:45 a.m., the ensuing review sessions generally run from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., roughly speaking. However, review really begins now.
Therefore, as we told the boys in Assembly, now is a good time to copy a classmates notes, to incrimentally break down the semester's lessons in digestible bits, and to form study committees to aid in the structured approach toward a reasonable exam prep experience. There is no reason that any student should feel overwhelmed or intimidated by semester exams.
In fact, the opposite should be the case. A methodical approach to each subject's exam is clearly within each boy's grasp, and he should score at or above his 1st and 2nd quarter combined average. The exam accounts for 25% of the semester grade, enough to offer a significant push above or below the average, not enough to derail the Slow Train!
So, as we bit adieu to November, we acknowledge that December Boys Got It Bad around here with a lot of studying, but the semester's end is just days away. They should be encouraged!
