My family just had our meeting. As the entropy of summer relaxation washes away the fleeting semblance of family time-management structure, we noticed the adverse effect on our boys' "response time" to basic instructions. Don't get me wrong; we celebrate the unstructured opportunity to "unlax" for a spell. Believe me. Money can't buy the peace of mind and recharge we all get from summer break in the school industry.
However, as the calendar exposes the oncoming reality of classes, my wife and I noticed the need to review our overall plan given the school schedule and resulting structure about to hit. We started with our ideal "lights-out" time for the boys, then worked backwards to their arrival time at home following the school day. It's quite an exercise. There is less time available than we think, especially with sports and music practice, some needed free time, and then homework/dinner/bath/tidy-up for the morning rush out the door to do it all over again.
Whew. Please share some of your thoughts on the new poll.
