We have a new poll up about internet access for your sons.
Last Friday, I spoke with the 7th grade about some of the issues involved in social networking on the internet. In short, I shared with them that their statements are not private and that the reputation that they may be creating with their statements could come back to cause them trouble in the future. It was a fun discussion, and I think the boys were interested in the topic.
As a precursor, I asked the boys about their internet access at home. Almost all of the 7th graders reported having internet access. About half of them had computers of their own in the bedroom. About half of those had some sort of parental filtering software installed, but most boys said they knew how to get around that software.
We're curious what all our parents have to say on this subject -- participate in our new poll and drop us a note if you have more to say.
